What should you know before installing business security cameras?
Cloud or local recording: which do we need?
Either works. We'll recommend one based on your retention needs, your bandwidth, and your budget, and the footage stays yours. Cloud recording keeps footage off site, so it survives a break-in or a fire at the building. Local recording keeps footage on a recorder at your site and doesn't depend on your internet upload. We walk through the choice in the free assessment.
Can we view cameras on our phones?
Yes. You can watch live and recorded video securely on phone, tablet, or desktop, and you pick who gets access. UniFi Protect has apps for iPhone and Android, so a manager can check the front door or pull up footage from home. We set up each person's login during install, and you can add or remove access whenever your staff changes.
What does "AI detection" actually do?
AI detection tells people and vehicles apart from background motion. You get alerts that mean something, and your phone isn't full of false alarms. Instead of an alert every time a branch moves or headlights sweep the lot, you hear about a person at the back door or a vehicle in a zone you set, and you can find those events in recorded footage.
Can you add cameras to our existing network?
Yes. We put the cameras on their own network segment, so they don't slow your business systems down or leave them exposed. If your current switches can't power the cameras or carry the video, the free assessment tells you what needs to change. Once the cameras are in, each one is monitored from The Igloo like any other network device.
How much does a commercial camera system cost?
We quote camera systems per site. There is no flat price, because the number of cameras, the coverage you need, and whether you record to the cloud or on site all move it.
